For clinicians: referring a patient for cost assistance

What to include in a referral, consent expectations, and how we communicate decisions back to you.

This is general information, not clinical advice, and it is no substitute for talking to a practitioner about your own situation.

Clinicians, case managers, pharmacists, and community organizations can refer a patient facing a cost barrier to psychiatric care, therapy, evaluation, or medication.

Consent comes first

Confirm the patient agrees to the referral and to us contacting them directly. Send only what is needed to assess the barrier and the service requested.

What helps a referral move quickly

The service being sought, the patient's location, the specific financial or coverage barrier, urgency, and the best way to reach them.

For medication assistance, include the prescriber and pharmacy so the prescription can be verified.

What you will hear back

We review the referral and contact the person using their preferred method. Information is shared with the referrer only when authorized and appropriate. We do not make clinical decisions or direct patient care.

Learn about help with therapy costs, mental health medication assistance, how to request support, or professional referral requirements.

Dates and external program details should be reconfirmed before relying on them.

This information is not medical advice

Everything on this website is general information about access to mental and behavioral health care. It is not medical, psychiatric, psychological, pharmaceutical, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed professional who knows your situation.

  • Only a licensed clinician who has assessed you can diagnose a condition or recommend treatment.
  • Never start, stop or change a medication or treatment because of something you read here. Speak with your prescriber first.
  • Independent providers and pharmacies are responsible for their own clinical decisions, services and advice.
  • Reading this website does not create a clinician-patient relationship with The MindBridge Health.
  • Information, program rules and availability can change, and may not fit every person or location.
